YOU WAKE UP for David

http://www.soundclick.com/html5/v3/player.cfm?type=single&songid=13607488&q=hi

You wake up one morning,
don’t know that it’s not just another day
There isn’t any warning,
so you just go on in the same old way

Dark coffee and good friends
not thinking it might some day end
working at what you love to do
the day ends before you want it to

Then suddenly, something happens
and you wonder if you’ll ever be the same
your body fails you, and the doctor tells you
he’s not sure if you’ll ever be the same

Seconds go by like hours
and people send you flowers
wishing you the very best,
available at your request

Your love tells you everything will be alright
the darkness will pass then comes the light
Don’t worry, it may be slow at first
there’s reason to be hopeful, you’ve seen the worst

The sun’s shining, your shadows sill around
getting better every day, no longer feeling down
You begin to realize you might just beat this thing
Even just the thought has a wonderful ring

A new day is dawning,
you know it’s not just another day
Your life has passed before you,
can’t go on in the same old way

I hadn't looked in the Sunday forum for a couple weeks so I missed this until now. Very nice. Perhaps your best song/recording that I've heard. Very gentle and thoughtful.
Great tribute to David.

I've been ruminating about this one. My best songs are usually about people that I know well but don't have an emotional relationship with. When a piece is about a loved one or myself, it gets kind of "sticky" and self indulgent. When its about someone else, I'm able to approach it from a neutral position.
That may be why I like this one so much.
