=====Revised Version=====
Who’d a thought thirty years ago we’d be sipping Chateau de Chassilier
Glad enough for the price of a cup o’ tea back in the day
We were poor in those days though we were happy
Maybe we were happy because we were poor
In middle of the road
In middle of the road
A hundred and sixty of us living in a small shoe box
In middle of the road
My old Dad used to say to me money won’t make you happy
He was right. I was happier then and I had nothing
Neighbors lived in a paper bag in septic tank
They said count your blessings and we gave thanks
In middle of the road
A thousand and sixty of us living in a small shoe box
In middle of the road
We’d lick the road clean with our tongues eating gravel every night
We slaved all day at the mill and at home Dad would slice us in two with a knife
In middle of the road
In middle of the road
A million and sixty of us living in a small shoe box
In middle of the road
Who’d a thought thirty years ago we’d be sipping Chateau de Chassilier
Don’t waste your stories on the kids today they’ll doubt everything you say
We were poor in those days though we were happy
Maybe we were happy because we were poor
In middle of the road
In middle of the road
A billion and sixty of us living in a small shoe box
In middle of the road

Now that was fun! Definitely feels like a song Eric Idle might write. Well done.
Only suggestion is that you could keep upping the number of people living in the box with each successive chorus. Just a thought.
As always, looking forward to more.
Peace
Hi David,
POOF numbers increased
Thanks for the listen and post :D
James
Awesome!
Falling in love is like learning to play the guitar; first you learn to follow the rules, then you learn to play with your heart.
Thanks, Kathy :D
