Hi... So i've tried at least 4 times to tune my G string up to a B for a few songs and everytime (over the past like 3 years) I've broken said string. How can it be done?

The songs I've been trying to play are Dogs by Damien Rice and Noah (Ghost in a Sheet) by Fionn Regan. It must be an Irish thing to tune that way.

what gauge G string? if the gauge is lighter, I believe it can be tuned upwards and still keep the correct tension w/o snapping.

there is a reason they make a B string.

Have you tried tuning everything else down, leaving the G string alone and using a capo?

Isn't the tuning DADADE anyway?
