Surely, if you are seeking zen in your screaming, you should search for a "less is more" approach. Don't try too hard, start simple, and build your throat/vocal chords so as not to damage them. Some famous growler/screamers suggest drinking milk before going on stage. They take that flem build up in the back of the throat and go with that "moistness" of sound. Stay away from alcohol and smoke that will dry out the throat and hurt your body.
It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!

a very good dvd, i have referred to it a lot in previous threads. suprisingly it doesnt focus much on the actual screaming but the power and delivery of the voice first, along with breathing and techniqu. it helped me a heap. there is a second dvd to but i havent seen that one
Most people come at screaming from an angle of abuse. There are ways to scream without harming the voice and breaking chord closure.
Find a good vocal coach and see what he or she can offer.
