i have just purchsed an antoria guitar that looks fairly old,it is an accoustic with f holes and a floating bridge, i am told you can tell the year of make by the serial number ie the first 2 numbers give you the year? if this is the case then my guitar dates back to 1944 as the serial num is 449190.Can anyone tell me if this is right please.

Do a google search on "antoria serial numbers" and you'll get links to more sites than you're ever going to read.

Old Antorias seem to have been made by Ibanez in Japan.

Antorias first arrived in the UK in the 50's, I've no idea if they existed as far back as '44. They could, of course, have been sold into other countries long before the UK.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?
