I start a new job the end of next month. It's gonna be a 9 - 5 with weekends and holidays off. Could be conducive to playing in a band. I have worked the night shift for the past 25 years. No definite plans to seek out musicians yet but I certainly will now have the correct work hours. I think I will wait to settle into the new job then who knows?

That's great! At least it opens the door to a band if you want.

Evenings and weekends off, huh? You won't know what to do with yourself.

Well, I'm sure I'll be plenty busy cause I have been working three 12 hour shifts and now I will be working 5 days a week. I might do four 10 hour shifts though, we will have to see. It depends upon what works the best. It will be wierd joining the world of the "normal" people. I haven't worked day shift since 1980.

Don't know how you lasted that long. I worked the 2nd shift (3-11) for a few years and hated every minute of it. It ruined my mornings and my nights.

Good luck with the normal hours you'll get used to it real fast.

Oh I HATE second shift!!! That totaly trashed the whole day!!! I worked nights for about a year.. its a change, but you do adapt. You do tend to sleep a lot less though. Good news on the new Gig TR. weekends off is pretty cool!!

Yeah, I hear you. The way things are now days ........ With my profession you are only unemployed if you want to be though. I have heard in some states nurses are not allowed to collect unemployment. I was on nights all those years by choice of course. I have been in my unit longer than any other nurse. There are only a few in the whole hospital with more seniority than me. Starting the end of next month I will be Clinical Coordinator of Intensive Care, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Lab.

9 to 5, huh?

Does that mean you'll be wearing a blond wig and getting, errrr, pectoral augmentation?

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?
