Hi!

I've just bought a second hand bass combo - its a 200W Trace Elliot Series 6 gp12 with a 1x15 speaker - for £250 (yes, I know it's probably more than all you Americans can get them for!).  I bought it having done some research and finding that Trace Elliot are pretty good.  I know its quite an old model, but it has only been used lightly in its lifetime, is really clean and tidy (hardly any marks) and it sounded really good, so I bought it.
I'm wanting to use it for small gigs with my band, playing the lovely guitar you see on the left  :D and we're in the rock/alternative style.
I can't find anything out about this model on the internet, presumably cos they're quite old and have been superceded.  Does anyone know what they're like?  Have I bought a lemon?  ;)  I'd like to think not, but if anyone has any info on them or can forward me to some then that would be great!

Thanks,
Stella

Can't say I know about that model, but I very much doubt its a lemon. Trace Elliot amps are very very good. I was playing one this weekend and was astounded by the sheer power and tone they have. I hope you get many years good use of it

Yeah, Trace Elliot = quality.  If you like it's sound, then you got no problems.  Happy slappin' 'n' tappin'!

Tried it out at rehearsal on Monday and it boomed!  Got loads of really clear fat sound of it and with the volume hardly up at all!  It has a graphic equalizer on it which is quite good for fine tuning the sound.  At the moment I'm just playing around with it to see what different sounds I can get but so far I'm very happy...and so were the rest of the band!

Here's a review on Harmony Central. It's for just the head.

That review did not really include the speaker cab that person was using.  The speakers and cab can really make a difference.  I still say, If Stella (aka SPG) is happy with her new gear, then Blast that baby away.

Yeah, I saw that review too.  But as 97reb says, I guess if it sounds right to me then thats the main thing.  And it does sound good, has a great full and clear sound and can go pretty loud!  Also my band seem happy with it so thats good.
Cheers y'all!

Trace Elliot is a legend in Bass Amplification and has always had very professionally built units. Their almost uncomprimised in terms of sound.

Have Fun..Joe
