Hey all,

During intensive search for lessons , i finally found a website , which has got plenty of them and the forum that get almost as good as GN.

These people have got more than 6500 members and i guess lots of people print out the lessons (i have already printed a dozen  )

I feel that this may be a site which someday pose a good competition to GN , none in unhealthy spirit but only the way I feel. 8)

By the way if you do not know this is the one i am talking about - (in case you know please ignore this entire post )

http://www.ibreathemusic.com

8) (please vote impartially , first go and check out this one :D )

ROFL.. Competition would imply that one or the other has something to lose. Neither does. Ibreathe is a great website (Glad you posted it, I lost the link) but neither has a thing to gain or lose by the others success.

But for healthy discussion, I like the look and feel of this one better. Not that i dont like the other. But I like the color scheme, layout, easiness of GN.

Just my opinion.

By competition i mean , PERFECTLY HEALTHY ONE , with no hard feelings.Music is meant to be shared and i found a site just worthy to be par with GN.

There is no way we are going to wage any wars over this topic.I just made a poll for fun.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE , don't get too serious or emotional over this one.

Its only the humbleness of the moderators to allow me posting a poll of the better one on its own site.We are all here for friendly discussions and our views so ultimately it is the simple opinion that counts not FEELINGS. :D :D :D

(i hope i cleared it up   )

What is the point of this poll? If you want to put in a link to another site or state your opinion fine, go ahead.

Comparing this site to another makes little sense. We are what we are, they are what they are. We don't try to be all things to all people, which is why this section of our forum exists. We want you to see and use all of the stuff out on the internet.

I'm leaving your opinion, but I think the poll is irrelevant.

http://www.ibreathemusic.com has been around for a long time. We don't compete, we compliment.

If you all want to check out other sites, try

http://www.planetalk.com
http://www.acousticplayermagazine.com
http://www.acousticguitar.com
http://www.celticguitartalk.com
http://www.torvund.net/guitar/

Here is the question you should be asking:

What other sites do you visit on a regular basis? What do you like and dislike about them.

Now if you have a suggestion for guitarnoise, how we could do things better etc, well we have a forum section for that too.

This forum section is my idea, the singing forum came from one of our members, so did alternate tuning, so did swap meet, some of David's and my lesson ideas, and many other things.

How about this question?

Is guitarnoise your primary site for educational guitar related information?

That's a good set of links there Nick...I'll have to go through those when I get the chance.

Our songs also have the standard pop format: Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, bad solo. All in all, I think we sound like The Knack and the Bay City Rollers being molested by Black Flag and Black Sabbath.

Nick , i don't know how to delete the poll , you can definatly delete it.Its ok here :) (by poll i meant that , if you are a new visitor and you don't know anything about guitar and then you come across both of these sites , which one would you like better , I don't want to offend anyone.Maybe you have gotten my point , but i guess i haven't been able to express myself in correct sense  )

Did I come across as snippy? I haven't had my coffee yet. Sorry if I did.

You can leave the poll, but I think it will be like asking the Republican National Convention if they prefer Republicans or Democrats.

Could've been me.

I wasn't ranting, I was just saying it was silly.

I visit about 4 guitar related sites regularly, moderate one, contribute on two and lurk on the other. I value them all.

It's like guitars for me. I play my Taylor 712ce most of all, but the Collings is close behind and only doesn't get played as much because it's special. The fancy Washburn gets a lot of play, so does the original ovation. Which is my favorite? It would have to be the one that I am playing at that moment. I don't think I could make it without any of them. Different mood, different guitar.

Guitar magazines are the same, I subscribe to two, neither is my favorite. There is some overlap in content, but they have a lot of different stuff.

Guitar books? Well who can have enough? uh...actually I do now. The Library of Congress called me the other day to see if I had a copy of an out of print book. That is a clue.

ibreathemusic is similar to guitarnoise, just look at the front page articles. The forums are pretty similar too. Very well moderated. Use them both.

I encourage everyone to go take a look. That is until I put the exclusivity clause in the membership agreement.

I have many guitar sites in my bookmarks - more than I have the time to visit. Each one has something to offer and I've learnt a little from all of them.
I don't see it as a competition, it's a different slant on the same subject - just as the members here have different ideas about things.
It's all about variety and finding an explanation that you understand. Why compete, we're all after the same thing.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Might have been a stupid post after all , but still i realise now that GN's forums ARE the BEST.Not only in the colour scheme and ease of use , there are a variety of different topic sub forums. And what to say of the articles , well , ibreathe has 171 articles in total and......guess how many GN have.

Teaches you never to take decisions in a rush. Now i take my vote back... :P
