Hey guys, I got a Schecter C1 Plus. Not the worst guitar ever. about 500-600 bucks when I bought it.

I bought it about 5-6 years ago. I'm not really digging the aesthetic anymore. Right now I'm more into the Telecaster look.

Got one of those pamphlets in the mail that Guitar Center sends you and I saw this cool little Squire Tele. About $170 bucks.

So I know that Squire ain't the most beloved brand but I don't know, I'm kind of bored and maybe it would be cool if I could trade in my Schecter for such a guitar.

Who was it that wrote that lyric, "Real Rock and Roll's about cheap electrical guitars ..." ?

Not sure if my local Guitar Center would be interested in the trade in but can't hurt to ask ...

Wanted some other thoughts on this though because I have one concern. I'm a punk rock guy. I know Punk Rock guys that use Teles have the special pick ups. I have a distortion pedal though so I figure that's enough right? Sound wise?

i wouldn't. maybe a used mexican fender tele, or a used g&l, which really are pretty sick, so maybe the tributes are good, too. not sure i'd go straight for a squire tele unless i really wanted a tele more.

Look? A true punker wouldn't give a rat's butt about "look." I was there. I know.

As a Dedicated Tele player, I can affirm it's one of the most versatile guitars around. No special pickups needed. Don't believe me? Check out some stuff I've recorded with a Tele

Just bought (and sold) a squier standard tele 1999 black/ maple neck made in indo I think. I boutght it for $75 and you'd be absolutely nuts if you'd say no to this guitar for that much. Very very very good quality, if you replaced the pickups and pots and got a set up you'd have a major guitar. I bought two used squier strats on a whim at a guitar store this week. One was $90 and one was $149 and they game them both for $200 (plus strings) the more expensive one is an old MIM squier burst lefty, I thought about using the rosewood neck upside down on the other body (why not for that price?) The other one (90 bucks) is, get this, sparkle gree burst! and after playing it for the last few days I can honestly say it is one of the nicest playing strats I have ever played, not kidding and I have some vintage stuff, made in korea which they don't do anymore. Less than 200 bucks and I got two, well made perfect condition, nice playing guitars, I'm not even made that I'm sitting on a lefty I have no use for. I bought a vintage vibe a couple years back and changed the hardware and pickups and you would not believe the guitar.

o

I know that's not true because those guys put a lot of work into their outfits. Their hair looked "AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG!!!"

No seriously, I just like the asthetic.

Thanks for the input guys, new guitar sounds good too, it's just that, for me, the schecter was just too gaudy, it had this blackish redish color.

I'm more into a toned down, earthly look. Understated elegance.
