I went by the local music store the other day and see a beautiful 3 tone sunburst Fender American Strat with rosewood neck. I have always loved the looks of this model. I thought it was new, still had all the stickers on it, so I asked how much it was. I was really curious to see if they were charging the new prices (around $1274 I believe) as opposed to the $999 before the prices went up about 3 months back. The owner tells me $650!
I couldn't believe it, and I didn't really need it, but at that price I had to buy it!
I don't have a photo of it, but it looks just like this:
Turns out another fellow bought it recently but did not like it for some reason and brought it back and put it on consignment. So, I got a real bargain. I don't know what there is not to like, I think it plays and sounds great.

wes, I have found that 650 or 695 is a pretty common used guitar price on really good Fenders.
the person that returned it probably got 350 and the store profited the rest.
however it works out .you got a great guitar for the price. love the sunburst.

Good for you Wes. 8) Enjoy your new toy. :D
"The only way I know that guarantees no mistakes is not to play and that's simply not an option". David Hodge
Well I bought this yesterday to celebrate 3 years of learning to play . I could only afford the Mexican version £340 or about $512 at current exchange rates. Its kind of funny really because my son learnt to play guitar before I did and he had a Squier strat and when I started to learn I hated playing it. When I did finally buy an electric I got a Les Paul copy and that was OK. About 6 or 7 moths ago I tried my friends Tele and I really liked it and thought that would be my next guitar. Trying the Tele made me think about giving my sons Strat another go. That guitar that I hated to play suddenly felt very comfortable, especially when stood up. Anyway I thought it was time I upgraded and after quite alot of looking and trying I settled on this. You know Wes it might well of been seeing your blue strat in your band video that planted the idea in my head.
Both are very cool guitars! :)
Nice!

I'm with Roy. I do like the look of the rosewood board.
I can't believe I said that since I teles and strats look best with maple.

wow great pickup there, Wes. The sunburst looks really pretty.
You know, I used to hate to the look of sunburst on fenders until I bought my tele. I only got the sunburst because it was the only one they had in the store, and it was a classic case of me choosing feel and sound over the color. Now, I can't imagine any other color. It looks classic, and your strat looks like a timeless piece of musical art.
Nice axe Wes. I'd of bought it too for that price. My (only)strat is also a sunburst, but with a maple neck. Its SWEET. I think the sunburst is a beautiful finish for a strat and that rosewood neck looks great with the finish.
Nice geetar Wes I don't like the rosewood fretboard normally but it does go with that geetar.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!
congrats on the new strats! The both look nice.
Out of curiosity, is there much of a noticeable difference between the highway one series and American standard?
Cool strats guys! 8)
