Hi all,

I was wondering if it is possible to use a 110v to 220v voltage converter long term for an amp.The price of 2nd hand amps is ridiculous in Australia. It would be cheaper for me to buy in USA even with shipping, even if houshold voltage is different but I'm not sure how good it is for amp using voltage converter long term.Anybody done this?Any thoughts? Thanks.

Cheers
Bruce

If you're buying a tube amp, you could probably replace the power transformer cheaper than getting a decent power converter.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

http://www.voodooamps.com/home/default.aspx If you're going to buy an amp in the US you can have it shipped directly to these guys and they'll do the conversion (usually the same day!) and pass it off to you. I can attest that they are super fast, ultra professional and very reasonably priced.
