Hey, I've always wanted to be able to work on the insides of my guitar (wiring and such) but I always find online mod instructions too complicated for me to understand. Are there any good books that fully explain how a guitar's wiring works starting from the very basics? Eventually I would like to learn to completely wire a guitar from scratch. Any good books/websites on this subject?
I know how to solder, but thats about it.
Thanks.

The first time I heard a Beatles song was "Let It Be." Some little kid was singing along with it: "Let it pee, let it pee" and pretending he was taking a leak. Hey, that's what happened, OK?-some guy

Try Guitar Nuts
Lots of great info on wiring and mods. One of the best shielding techniques I've seen. Best of all, they explain why they are doing things and how the are helpful, so you learn too.

Thanks for the link, but I've been there before. I was hoping more for something that was very straightforward, so I could totally learn about how the insides of a guitar works. That sites mainly a bunch of mods. Even with their explanations I get confused, I opened up the back of my guitar and I just had no idea how any of it worked.

To perfectly describe what I'm looking for, it would be some kind of webpage or book that started with the very basics and gradually got more complicated as you got into it and eventually you learning how to wire a guitar from scratch. Any chance theres anything like this around?

You may have to read a bit but the site Fiberoptik referred you to really helped me. Try this link http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/howitallworks.php
You could also try good old Stewmac at http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Books_and_videos_on:_Electronics.html

Electronics for the guitar is the same kind of electronics for anything electronical.

In other words, learning some basic electronics could be helpful for understanding what's inside of your guitar.

For a start try looking at

for some basic electronic info.

My S&P guitar is Canadian.
My Strat is Mexican.
I'm somewhere in the Middle Kingdom.
