When i was a kid i used to sit under this tree and daydream.

TREE

Quiet whispers in the breeze,
Secrets passed between the trees,
If you could talk,
Would you tell me what you`ve seen,
Watching children playing games,
Into your bark carving names,
If you could talk, if you could talk, if you could talk,
Would you tell me all thats been.

As you watch the seasons slowly pass,
Watching mother nature at her task,
Do you feel the joy,
At the wonders of this world,
Generations come and go,
And with them you learn and grow,
Are you wise, are you wise, are you wise,
Share your wisdom with me.

CHORUS
Theres a thousand secrets you must hold,
A hundred thousand secrets to be told,
Theres a thousand legends to unfold,
A hundred thousand storys left untold.

In the winter do you feel the cold,
Your naked branches exposed to the world,
Can you feel pain
Do you want to cry out
You`ve stood through hurricane
Rain lashed on a lightning plain
You must be brave,
Braver than me

CHORUS.......

Endless battles lost and won,
A spectator of all to come,
Do you despair,
For all of mankind,
You`ve seen our history,
Could you solve lifes mysterys
Tell me tree,
Tell it all to me.

CHORUS..........

Howdy RickyB. This is a really nice, pleasant song.
Here, I offer some suggestions in case you wanted to 'standardize' the syllable counts in the verses.
That would make it easier for creating music for the lyrics.

That is very helpful. A tune was written along time ago, and it has been performed, many times, but i have never been happy with the way the second verse flows. However the last verse is deliberatly cut short. I`ll try and upload a version onto soundclick and maybe you can see how it all works. Cheers, you have been a great help. :D

Nice song man! It sounds like you're pretty convinced that this tree hold all the secrets you refer to, while I'd personally be more inclined to inject a little more doubt on the part of the narrator, but that's just a personal preference. Interesting subject though, I'm hearing Nick Drake with a little Dylan for this one. :)
