http://www.apple.com / downloads has a fair selection for free, i mean we're all on an apple right?

There are about five things to write songs about: I'm leaving you. You're leaving me. I want you. You don't want me. I believe in something. Five subjects, and twelve notes. For all that, we musicians do pretty well.

Recently came across this shareware program FretPet X, a "guitar-oriented music sequencer" for the Mac:

AP guitar tuner has changed and doesn't seem to have all the alternative tunings anymore.
I lost the original when my pc crashed and now this new one doesn't seem to be as good.
Can anyone send me the original one ?

Can someone point me in the direction of a plug-in for I-tunes that will loop a section of a song and also one that will slow down the tempo and adjust the pitch? I have these plug-ins that work with Winamp, but now that I've purchased an Ipod, I'll probably be converting to I-tunes.

Thanks!
Dave

If you are using Windows, you can download Acid Express. Use AE to bitmap the song and from there you can slow it down. Make sure you export the file as Acid Express does not allow you to save your progress.

The best free amp sim I've ever used:

It appears the guy could use some donations so, I do encourage you to do so. His othe plugins are great. Soft synths that you can play with your guitar! No kidding. The tracking is slow but they work. Unfortunately he does not have those links up. Not sure if he sends you another link if you donate. And no. It's not my site. :D

Not strictly guitar related, but we all want to modify images at some time or another - sometimes to make a post on GN.

You can get a full-featured image manipulation application called GIMP. Its absolutely free and has more features than many people can deal with

Get it here

Another nice little application for viewing images, whether it be a catalogue of images, slide show or just a single image, is Irfanview

Get it here

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Another great guitar tuner is at http://www.guitar2ner.com It has built-in alternate tuning modes so that you can tune your guitar to different tunings. The site also has a chord finder and lists a lot of alternate tunings.

You can also install a widget version of the tuner on your own Facebook, MySpace or Blog. The widget can be found here:

Thanks jonny,

I had actually found the original some time ago, I had forgotten that I put it on disc and when clearing out some cupboards, there it was.

CoachTuner for iPhone and iPad is very successful guitar tuner in France : https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/coach-tuner-guitar-acoustic/id838981369?mt=8

it is free for standard tuning ( then you can buy alternate tunings, but i never use that so i just use the free version )

I don't know what people use in the USA ?
