Re: Maple or Rosewood

+1 on Ebony.

If I were to have two Strats -or- Tele's I'd have one with a Maple Neck (already do) and an Ebony Neck, (not yet!)

Anything else..it'd be rosewood or ebony if I could find one.

No real reason except that "I wanna...." :)

Re: Hell's Bells Help Needed

I learned this song up in the higher position and found it very simple and easy to do. Really its the two middle strings and the droning of the open A string. I too struggled with the G5 -> F# transitions but after a few hundred times practicing it over and over I finally got it. I've also noticed i...

Re: Gretsch guitar question?

No, not that. You could. but a "Bigsby" without the bar would be....uh... Hmmmm. Not right?!?! Also, any guitar can be a 'blues' guitar. Blues don't come from the guitar, it comes from the heart. I've heard a guy play Blues on a Ukelele once. He was really good at it too.... don't be fooled ...

Re: Strat question

Right. I'd suggest getting a MID-tier guitar. Granted if you can find a good, clean used MIA Strat or Tele for 500-700 dollars jump on it :) Same goes with a MIJ (japan) Strat or Tele... they should go for a little less than MIA but more for MIM Fenders. My own personal justification is this... and ...

Re: Good news for Gilmour fans

Here's a great Dave Gilmour site.

Explains a lot of his gear he's used over the years.

Talks about Blackie and Whitey too...(guitars folks)

Re: HMMMMM Marshall half stacks?

Dude.. if you get any 'stack' for home use only... your friggen ears will bleed....and maybe your eyes too. If you want loud...just look at one of the 12" Tube Combo's. No really... Go into your local music store..plug into one.. (Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Peavey Classic 30, Vox AC30, a Spider) and cra...

Re: Help with an amp setting?

Hmmm muddy? Try the gain.. (bring it down) and also boost some mids and down the bass a bit.. The louder you go too, the smaller adjustments you'll need. Half the fun for me, especially with a new amp, is finding all the different tones I can pull from it. :) And as I mentioned, don't forget your to...

Re: Help with an amp setting?

So do it.. its your amp... Don't be afraid to twist those knobs all over the place. I'll often find a nice little chord progression and comp around a little bit.. then twist something and play the same thing over and over again.. like 50 times always twisting my knobs, on both the guitar and the amp...
