Re: Learn To Play Guitar for Beginners

Hi guys, What is your opinion about online classes that teach guitar for beginners? I came across this link[https://www.simpliv.com/search?query=guitar]. I found it interesting. Save your money and spend it on a real tutor who will be in the room with you, can see where you're going wrong, can answ...

Re: I'd like my uke to sound like a mandolin

Let me get this right - you put a Uke string on as the first string (A) and tuned it up to E to match mandolin tuning? I'm not surprised it broke; they're just not designed to take that level of abuse. If the problem with your mandolin technique is that you're struggling to cope with having the two ...

Re: What are scales ?

A group of notes within a key

Example:

the Scale of C major uses the notes C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C

the Scale of G major uses the notes G-A-B-C-D-E-F#-G

And if any of that is confusing then you should check out the theory lessons on this site

Re: Hello , New here :)

Yes, the frequency of the note one octave higher is exactly double, and the ratio of those in between in between is a simple formula involving the 12th root of two.

It won't help you shred, but it's useful to know

Do I read that right? They want you to give them money to interview you? No way. Spend your money on proper promo when you've got to the point of needing it - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are free. Use them first. Use them now. Use them lots Talk to local newspapers, community radio stations, sho...

Re: Back In Black - what key

.... So in my opinion the key is E mixolydian - it is kind of vague and open to interpretation though, like a lot of AC/DC songs it mixes up notes from minor and major scales a lot. E mixolydian is not a key, it's the 5th mode of the A major scale. You're right about the song's tonal ambiguity though

Re: Is taking guitar classes worth it?

Yes, it's always worth taking lessons no matter how long you've been playing

I had a few lessons when I was 20, wanting to learn some classical guitar techniques. I had my next lesson when I was 46 and coming up to my Grade 7 exam

The website doesn't; a human does, and enters it all into a template

Re: Guitar input jack screw loose

Nothing wrong with the wood - the screws have been inserted at the wrong angle.

Fill the holes with wood filler and partly re-drill them, making sure you go downwards vertically

Re: Where to start with learning music theory.

I think in terms of being able to improvise and play songs, you will want to learn key signatures and the circle of fifths. Once you understand the keys that you're playing in, things start to make a lot more sense! Please do not edit posts after approval to include Spam links - we can see them. I'...
