Out from my cave...

I'm a longtime user who fell of the site and am back to browsing a bit as of late. Wrote an article on slide a while back. Anyone remember me? I bet the user base has changed about six times by now. Wes, Nick, anyone out there? haha I've been rock climbing a lot (my other passion) and haven't had mu...

Peter Vogl has an excellent demo here Chicken Pickin That's the video I was referring to. I could be wrong, but I think he just plays chord-based country style licks, no clucking. I can't watch the video on my computer right now, no quicktime. But I have seen it in the past, and I don't recall any ...

Thanks. The sound I'm trying to get is in the intro of the Dixie Dregs tune "Ice Cakes." Muted, scratchy "buk bukah BOooK" I'm just starting to get into hot country, and have seen variations on what chicken pickin is described as. I always thought it was the clucking sound I so wonderfully des...

Chicken Pickin

Can anyone offer tips on chicken pickin? I use hybrid picking and really pull up on the strings with my free fingers to get that pop, but it's not creating the desired effect. I know there is some frethand technique involved, i.e. releasing the note as it is picked to create the muted, cluck effect ...

Merry Christmas To Me

The season of GAS ....err giving is upon us, so in the spirit of it all I just got myself a Tele. I've wanted a solidbody for a while after playing a semi hollow for 3-4 years. I only have one electric (the semi-hollow) and want to convert it into open-G /silde guitar and I don't want to drop ...

Yeah I know what you mean. A couple of the new CDs have that Umixit technology, where a song is broken into individual tracks on your pc and you can mess with the levels, etc. I was suprised by the amount of delay on the vocals and drums...didn't notice it in the full track, but I bet if it was take...

Thanks for the replies. I've found its significantly easier to groove and progress with one, and have been using hammerhead for a while. Want to start recording, so I'll probably spring....

Yes, my practice amp has a line in, wasn't sure if they were made to go through those. Makes perfect sense, but you never know I guess

Drum Machine

Probably a stupid question, but drum machines need a speaker out, right? There's no internal speaker for standalone use, corrent? I want to spice up my metronome practicing, and was thinking of getting a drum unit, but not if I need to get speakers and all that stuff. If I have to run it through my ...
